Sadie is the starting point guard & captain for Airhearts Select 40, competing against the nation's top teams. A rising junior at New Trier High School, she carries a 5.3 GPA in one of the country's most rigorous academic environments, is on track to complete 11+ AP courses, & is a neuroscience research intern at Northwestern Medicine's Schwartz Ophthalmology Lab. She continued her research experience at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, & will continue working with the lab during the school year & next summer. Sadie is seeking a college experience where she can pursue elite academics while competing at the highest level of basketball.
A true point guard, Sadie controls tempo, reads the game early, & consistently makes winning decisions. Her court vision, passing, & basketball IQ allow her to create opportunities for teammates while taking excellent care of the ball. She embraces the toughest defensive assignments, communicates constantly, studies film, & enjoys discussing strategy & in-game adjustments with her coaches.
At 5'7", Sadie combines toughness, quickness, & strength. She wins loose balls, rebounds beyond her size, plays through contact, shoots 90% from the free-throw line, & scores from all three levels. She has not missed a practice or game in six years, is a four-time USA Gold Camp participant, & has earned numerous tournament MVP & All-Star honors.
What separates Sadie is her love of the daily work. She chooses to spend her free time playing basketball, lifting, running, studying film, & finding ways to improve. She embraces conditioning, seeks out extra reps, & genuinely enjoys the discipline & routine required to compete at the highest level. This summer, she balanced national AAU competition with neuroscience research, & approaches both with the same curiosity, consistency, & commitment.
Off the court, Sadie is a student leader & mentor. She founded the Global Leadership Program at New Trier to support incoming international students, tutors math, chemistry, & Spanish, & coaches Special Olympics athletes. She has earned leadership honors including the HOBY Leadership Award & two Gwendolyn Brooks Youth Poetry Awards.
