LEADERS >> MARK HAUPT
Dr. Mark's athletic career started on the football field, crossed tennis & basketball courts, and ultimately transitioned to the waterways as an accomplished collegiate rower. This transition fueled an interest in exercise physiology and performance training.
Mark's athletic career took a bit of a pause while he pursued his medical degree, completed a residency in Pediatrics and ultimately a fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine. His career has been dedicated to promoting the health and wellness of children. However, even during this busy time, Dr. Mark never stopped playing, coaching and writing professionally about basketball analytics. He even vaguely recalls winning the Chicago Hoop It Up 3v3 Championship (with Coach Ashley) in between med school classes.
Airhearts allows Dr. Mark (or just "Coach Mark") to bring together his passion for sports and medicine. Dr. Mark is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Sports Medicine & Fitness, a National Association of Sports Medicine certified Youth Exercise Specialist and a Knee Injury Prevention Program (KIPP) certified coach & ambassador. He is an Oxygen Advantage certified Advanced Instructor. With training in pediatric exercise physiology and performance breathing, Dr. Mark aims to help young athletes perform their best, prevent injuries by applying evidence based training methods, and have fun while competing at a high level. Dr. Mark is also a USA Basketball Gold certified coach.
